As the senior pastor of Eternal Hope Christian Mission and founder of Ministers Alive International Fellowship, he has spent his life serving God and spreading the truth of His word. Called by God at the tender age of 11, Pastor Ufondu has walked a path of obedience and trust, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals. In this exclusive interview, Pastor Ufondu opens up about his journey, sharing the highs and lows, and the lessons learned along the way.
Pastor James Ufondu, can you tell us your background in ministry?
By the grace of God, I received God’s call when I was 11 years old. I had a dream in which a voice called me and 
took me to a wilderness. There, I saw a man preaching to people, and they called him John the Baptist. A voice told me that I would preach like John the Baptist. At that time, I didn’t know much about preaching. I woke up, and it felt like it was just a dream. Being a poor boy from a Catholic background, I didn’t want to share the dream with anyone. Instead, I decided to move forward with becoming a Roman Catholic priest, so I started serving under a reverend.
That must have been a powerful experience. How did your journey unfold from there?
As I served under the reverend, I began to feel a strong conviction to preach the word of God. Despite my initial plans to become a Catholic priest, I felt an insatiable hunger to share the Gospel with others. This led me to start preaching, and soon, I was ministering to my peers and even some adults. My passion for the word of God grew stronger with each passing day, and I knew that I had to dedicate my life to spreading His truth.
What drove you to establish Eternal Hope Christian Mission and Ministers Alive International Fellowship?
My desire to see people transformed by the power of God’s word drove me to establish Eternal Hope Christian Mission. I wanted to create a platform where people could experience the love and hope of Christ. As for Ministers Alive International Fellowship, I felt a strong urge to equip and empower other ministers of the Gospel to effectively share the truth with their communities. I believe that by working together, we can make a greater impact and bring more people to Christ.
Your recent conference, “Standing on the Truth,” was a huge success. What inspired this theme, and what do you hope attendees took away from the experience?*
The theme “Standing on the Truth” was inspired by the growing trend of lukewarmness and compromise in the body of Christ. I felt it was essential to remind believers of the importance of standing firm on the unchanging word of God, even in the face of adversity. I hope that attendees were inspired to take a bold stance for Christ, to be more committed to their faith, and to share the truth with others.
What advice would you give to those who are newly called to ministry or seeking to deepen their walk with God?*
My advice would be to remain committed to the word of God and to seek a deeper relationship with Him through prayer and fellowship. It’s essential to be humble, obedient, and willing to learn. Surround yourself with people who will encourage and support you on your journey. Most importantly, always remember that ministry is not about personal gain but about serving others and bringing glory to God.
What is your vision for the future of Eternal Hope Christian Mission and Ministers Alive International Fellowship?
My vision is to see these organizations continue to grow and impact lives globally. I envision a network of ministers and believers who are united in their pursuit of spreading the truth and sharing the love of Christ. I pray that we will see a revival of the pure and undiluted word of God, and that many will be transformed by His power.
