RHEMA AT 26TH CONVENTION: GOD THAT SHOWETH MERCY TAKES CENTRE STAGE

“We prophesy with results, because results stop insults”

Felix Mbata, Lagos state

It was more than a convention. It was a downpour of mercy.

For three glorious days, the auditorium of Rhema Deliverance Mission, Lagos, was transformed into a theatre of the supernatural as worshippers from across Lagos and beyond converged for the 26th Annual Convention of the ministry, themed: “The God That Showeth Mercy.”

From the opening day to the grand finale, the atmosphere was electric — charged with thunderous praise, prophetic declarations, raw power, and tears of joy. The church, beautifully decorated, echoed with songs of mercy, while the mammoth crowd danced, prayed and celebrated a God who never abandons His own.

At the centre of it all stood a man whose life and ministry epitomize mercy — Prophet Dr. Anene Nwachukwu, the charismatic and firebrand Overseer of Rhema Deliverance Mission.

26 YEARS OF UNBROKEN MERCY

In an exclusive interview with our correspondent, the highly revered Prophet, with infectious humility and prophetic authority, traced the journey of Rhema to divine mercy.

“This 2026 convention is our 26th edition and I am grateful to God that has been showing us mercy,” he declared with smiles. “The mercies of God over our ministry cannot be over-emphasized. We are living examples of God’s mercy.”

And indeed, the testimonies spoke louder.

One after another, worshippers mounted the podium, their faces radiant. Some who came to Rhema as tenants are now proud landlords. Traders who started with small shops are now importers. The sick brought in weak and weary walked out healed. Barren wombs received prophetic words that turned to bouncing babies. Businesses that were grounded were revived.

“You can see on the convention finale that everybody is super excited about what God is doing,” Prophet Anene said. “Those that were sick are healed, prophecies fulfilled with instant solutions. Ordinary people who came to Rhema can now see that God is faithful and gracious.”

A THEME FROM HEAVEN

For Prophet Anene, the theme was not a product of brainstorming. It was a revelation.

“I didn’t choose the theme, it was the Lord who chose it for me,” he said. “God said He has been there for us, showing us mercy. That is why the theme is ‘The God That Showeth Mercy’.”

Drawing from the scriptures, he reminded worshippers that the same God who showed mercy to Mary Magdalene, restored sight to blind Bartimaeus, and healed the man at the Pool of Bethesda, is still abundantly showing mercy today.

Quoting Romans 9:16, he thundered: “It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that showeth mercy. God’s mercy is connected to our health, our businesses, our lives, our families. It is all over us.”

NO TRIBALISM, ONLY RESULTS

One striking colour at the convention was Prophet Anene’s passion for newcomers. Without registration, without protocol, he located first-timers in the crowd, prophesied with pinpoint accuracy, and offered divine solutions. They confirmed every prophecy.

In our church, we don’t do tribalism or segregation,” he explained. “Jesus said, go into the world and preach, cast out devils. Anyone God shows us, even if he or she is coming for the first time, we minister and deliver the person. That is our job — to liberate people from the shackles of the wicked.”

“We prophesy with results, because results stop insults,” he added, eyes blazing. “We have passed the baptism of Christianity; we are now in militant Christianity — the generation that will take it by force and by fire, the generation that will stand for Christ and defend the gospel. That is what we are doing in Rhema.”

THE PROPHET WHO DOESN’T ROMANCE POLITICIANS

In a nation where many pulpits have become political endorsements centres, Prophet Anene stands tall and different. The Rhema altar has become a magnet for great personalities, business moguls, government officials and politicians seeking prayers, but the Prophet maintains a sacred distance.

“We are a church of Jesus Christ and I don’t romance with politicians,” he said frankly. “Anyone who wants our prayers, we pray for them. It is our job to pray for leaders. But we don’t endorse people and we don’t demand anything from them. If I am not convinced about a person, I will tell him to go and change his ways. If God says yes, it is settled. By the grace of God, He is showing us mercy.”

On the misconduct of some clergymen denting the image of the church, he was philosophical: “Even Jesus said, allow the tares and weeds to grow together. When the owner of the farm comes, He will separate them. If you don’t have fake, you won’t know the genuine. We must be consistent in our calling. I have seen bishops going to government houses to endorse politicians because of what they will be given — selling their conscience for a portion of meat. Men of God like me cannot do that.”

A VOICE FOR NIGERIA AT 66

Prophet Anene also bared his heart on the state of the nation as Nigeria marks 66 years of independence.

“At 66 years, we are still crawling.  “But God will intervene in our 2027 elections. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God said if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, He will hear from heaven and heal their land. It is time for Nigeria to be healed.”

He reserved a special charge for the youths: “Nigerian youths should take their destiny in their hands. Never allow yourselves to be used as thugs for rigging and snatching ballot boxes. The same people you are rigging into power are the cause of your problems. Their children are in London, America and Europe enjoying themselves, while if you are shot carrying ballot boxes, you die and nobody asks after your family. Don’t allow yourselves to be used as touts.”

GRAND FINALE OF GLORY

As the 2026 convention ended, the verdict was unanimous: God indeed showed up.

The choir sang with angelic harmony, the congregation danced with abandon, and the altar overflowed with thanksgiving offerings. From wheelchairs to crutches abandoned, from tears to testimonies, Rhema Deliverance Mission once again proved why for over two decades it has remained a city of refuge, a prophetic hub where destinies are re-written.

For Prophet Anene Nwachukwu, the message to worshippers as they returned home was simple yet profound:

“The Lord who has started showing us mercy will perfect it. His mercy will go round every member of Rhema Deliverance Mission. For it is God that showeth mercy.”

And truly, at Rhema, mercy is still speaking.
