Exclusive Interview

Christian Events Watch: Good evening, sir. Please introduce yourself.

Apostle Bayode: I’m Superintendent General Apostle Christopher Agbola Bayode, General Secretary of Hotonu Mother Church of the Eternal Sacred Order of the Cherubim and Seraphim, founded by Moses Orimolade Orumlake Tamoseun.

CEW: What prompted this conference, and when did you start holding it in this cathedral?

Apostle Bayode: We’ve held conferences here for over two decades, since moving from Lagos. We started in 1954, but not in this cathedral. It began as the Lagos District Council, which metamorphosed into Hotonu General Conference, with four initial churches.

Fostering Unity and Growth

CEW: What are the benefits of this 2024 conference to the Church?

Apostle Bayode: The conference promotes unity, discussing developments in branches, districts, and territories. It brings together members from Nigeria and overseas, fostering oneness in Christ.

CEW: What are your achievements so far?

Apostle Bayode: We’ve achieved unity through this conference, spreading its impact to our branches and correcting societal ills.

Understanding Unification and Eternal

CEW: What’s the difference between Unification and Eternal in Cherubim and Seraphim church names?

Apostle Bayode: Eternal Sacred Order (Reg. No. 316) was founded by Moses Orimolade. Unification was established later to bring together breakaway churches, promoting unity and avoiding unnecessary rivalry.

Challenges and the Way Forward

CEW: What led to some Cherubim and Seraphim churches diverging from Moses Orimolade’s doctrine?

Apostle Bayode: Human differences and desire for leadership led to proliferation. Our core mandate remains evangelism, as emphasized by Moses Orimolade.

CEW: Advice to youths on maintaining the doctrine?

Apostle Bayode: Parents should teach children the way of the Lord. We must correct noticed errors and remain steadfast.

Support and Appreciation

CEW: What challenges face the church, and how can people support?

Apostle Bayode: We need members’ steadfastness and parental guidance. The world’s moral decline concerns us.

CEW: Words of appreciation to attendees from other states?

Apostle Bayode: I thank God for their lives and commitment. Their presence shows interest in our mission and unity.
